Gapminder Worldview Upgrader - The web app that changes your worldview
Gapminder Worldview Upgrader is a fun and inspirational tool that aims to eliminate your misconceptions about global development in an ever evolving world. Nominated for app of the year.
Anna and Ola Rosling (pictured above, photo: Jann Lipka), co-founders of the Gapminder foundation, wanted to create a digital extension of their international bestseller Factfulness. The product we ended up designing is a web app called Gapminder Worldview Upgrader, which is a fun, game-influenced educational tool created to help people rid themselves of systematic misconceptions about global development.
By packaging reliable statistics and facts, with focus on UN Sustainability goals, in a best-in-class user experience, people around the world have a tool in the palm of their hands helping them dismantle common misconceptions about the global development.
Mission
Create a digital extension of the international bestseller Factfulness. Present statistics and facts about global development in a fun way so that people want to use it.
Process
A lot of time was spent exploring and experimenting. We did exhaustive market research and conducted numerous rounds of user interviews and user testing.
The designs were tested early and often, first with paper prototypes and later with coded prototypes. The prototypes were put in the hands of 1000 users and the continuous feedback helped us optimize the product before we launched in autumn 2020.
